For those of you who I have not had the pleasure of meeting, my name is Sean McBeath. I am the new principal at Bowie Junior High School. I am honored and thrilled to be here in Bowie. Kelly Shackelford, who did such a great job at BJH over the last few years, has moved to high school, and I will be working hard to fill his shoes.

 

I am a graduate of Texas Tech University, and I received my Master of Education degree from Midwestern State University. In my previous position, I served as an education specialist at Region 9 Education Service Center in Wichita Falls. Prior to Region 9, I was employed with the Bellevue Independent School District, first as a teacher, and then later, as principal.

 

As I said earlier, I am very excited to be here, and I am dedicated to being the instructional leader to the students of Bowie Junior High. As I have been settling in, I have had some time to meet people, and I have a little bit of an idea about what Bowie Junior High School is all about. There are so many more people I will meet and so much more I have to learn, but it is obvious to me already that Bowie Junior High School is a very special place. The faculty members and staff care about each and every student who walks through the BJH door.

 

During the 2011-2012 school year, I will listen, observe, and meet with people to find out what is working well and what are the things we need to do in order to improve. I am sure that as we move ahead, we will build on the success that is already established at Bowie Junior High.

 

I ask the BJH students to come to school with a smile on their face, a dedication to academic success, and a willingness to help others in need. We are all in this together, and we cannot be successful without Cottontail spirit and cooperation.
